How to fix ER19
- Check the obvious: water tank full and seated, no "fill tank" prompt, machine on a socket that is not shared with a kettle or heater on the same circuit.
- Power cycle and time the warm-up. No warmth at all after five minutes suggests no power is reaching the heater.
- The thermal fuse, heating element and triac board are inside the machine at mains voltage. A technician would test them with the machine unplugged and find out why a fuse opened (leak, scale or a latched triac).
When to stop and call a repairer
Mains voltage is present at the element and triac board. Do not open the machine or test live circuits; this is a bench repair for a technician.

How to check the error log
Switch the machine off at the wall. Hold the front Power button, switch the wall power back on and release when the logo appears. Enter the service password 00000, then open Error Counter (stored faults) or Live Debug (live temperatures and water levels). One technician video says the entry method differs between machines built before and after 2018, so if this does not work, do not keep trying.
Clear the log after a repair so you can tell whether the fault has really gone.
Beyond the fix
Tips and tricks
- Run a short water flush through the empty group head before inserting the portafilter; the booklet says this clears grounds and steadies water temperature.manufacturer manual
- Wipe grounds from the basket rim after dosing so the portafilter seals properly in the group head.manufacturer manual
- Note the code in the service menu error list and clear it; if it returns after a restart it is likely genuine.technician video
Common mistakes
- Assuming a slow warm-up is a heater fault when a cold portafilter or skipped pre-heat is the cause of cool shots.

Questions
What does ER19 mean on the Breville / Sage Oracle Touch?
Group head temperature not rising as expected. The controller is switching the group head heater heater on but the temperature is not climbing. Technician sources point to a heater that is not getting power (a thermal fuse or a triac) or an element that has failed. A sensor that has drifted can mimic this. Breville does not publish this code table, so the meaning comes from third-party service tables.
Can I fix ER19 myself?
DIY difficulty: not recommended. Check the obvious: water tank full and seated, no "fill tank" prompt, machine on a socket that is not shared with a kettle or heater on the same circuit. Power cycle and time the warm-up. No warmth at all after five minutes suggests no power is reaching the heater.

ER19 during startup or during use?
Breville / Sage Oracle Touchs report ER19 any time. There is no reliable pattern to when it appears — treat any occurrence as real.
Can I keep using the machine with ER19 showing?
Treat it as a stop-using signal: ER19 marks a fault that can damage the machine (or worse) if you keep running it. Do the safe first steps below, then stop.
