Boiler, thermoblock and heater fault codes
10 codes across 4 brands, from Breville / Sage, Jura, GE, Samsung.

What these parts do
Boilers and thermoblocks heat the water, and ovens and dryers use heating elements. A thermal fuse or thermostat cuts power if something overheats.
How they fail
The heater was switched on and the temperature did not climb, or it climbed too far. A blown thermal fuse, a failed element, scale insulating the heater, or a board relay stuck on can all be behind it.
Safe checks first
- Unplug and let the machine cool. Never test a heater that is hot or powered.
- Warm the machine to room temperature and restart once.
- Descale if due. Heavy scale slows heating enough to trip the check on some firmware.
- A heater that will not switch off is a safety issue. Do not leave the machine powered unattended.
Appliances carry mains voltage. Unplug before opening anything, and stop where a code's own page tells you to.
