Jura error codes

17 codes across 1 machine family. Each has its own page with the meaning, the part at fault, the fix and the cost.

Brew unit cannot position or complete its cycle. Jura's own manuals define only Errors 2 and 5 and tell you to switch off with the On/Off button and contact customer support for any other error. The meaning below comes from a third-party technician service table (a German parts reseller) that lists Error 8 for the older A, E and F-line machines and other non-GIGA lines as the brew unit being unable to position or initialise. Retailer and service pages agree it is a brew unit problem, but at lower confidence. One of them, Jura-parts.com (a US parts seller, so it has a sales interest), words it as the position encoder seeing too few revolutions of the brew unit drive, and lists Error 8 for non-GIGA machines only, with the GIGA brew group at Error 17. We attribute that wording to the parts seller, not to Jura. The technician table lists swollen or torn seals, the motor, the position encoder, the transformer and the boards among the possible causes. The table does not name the S8, J8, Z10 or ENA 8, so we cannot say how it applies to them. On the GIGA line the same table puts the brew unit at a different number.

Machine too cold to heat (Jura manuals); technician sources also list a heating or sensor fault. Jura's manuals define Error 2 (and Error 5) as the machine having been exposed to prolonged cold, with heating disabled for safety. The fix Jura gives is to let it warm up at room temperature. Jura's GIGA manual gives a working ambient range of 10 to 35 C, but we found no stated lockout temperature. Technician sources describe Error 2 differently (a failure to heat, or a temperature outside tolerance), so if it persists in a warm room the cause is internal.

We could not find a verified meaning. Jura's own manuals define only Errors 2 and 5, and the sources that claim a meaning for 31 conflict or cite nothing. Jura's instruction for any error other than 2 or 5 is to switch the machine off with the On/Off button and contact customer support.

Technician service tables number the GIGA line differently from the standard E, ENA, S, J and Z machines. For example Error 13 is the right grinder on a GIGA and the left on a standard machine. Each Jura page says which family it describes.
