GE dryer error codes

GE publishes no consumer code table for dryers, so these meanings are technician-sourced and can differ between platforms. Each code links to its own fix-first page.

Not an official GE definition list: the same code can mean different things on different dryer platforms. Your model’s tech sheet is the authority.

Codes GE does document

For the Profile UltraFast washer-dryer combo only, GE documents 353 (lint filter clogged) and 18 (drain pump filter). On some 2019-and-newer dryers a “1” or “2” on the display is a personality setting, not a fault.

Diagnostic mode

GE does not publish a consumer sequence for dryers. Field-service mode and its entry keys differ by platform and live in the technical service manual for your model number. Single-model sequences posted online are unreliable, and service mode runs heaters and, on gas dryers, igniters, so we do not list them.

Questions

Does GE publish a list of dryer error codes?

Not for consumers. GE’s public dryer support pages carry no code table. The meanings below come from technician and parts-site compilations that mix dryer platforms, so treat them as a guide and confirm against the tech sheet for your model number.

How do I enter diagnostic mode on a GE dryer?

GE does not publish a consumer sequence. Field-service mode and its entry keys differ by platform and are in the technical service manual for your model. Sequences posted online are for single models and some do not work, so we do not list them. Service mode also runs heaters and, on gas dryers, igniters.

What do the codes 353 and 18 mean on a GE dryer?

GE documents them for the Profile UltraFast washer-dryer combo only: 353 for a clogged lint filter and 18 for the drain-pump filter. They do not apply to standalone dryers.

What clears most GE dryer errors?

Unplug the dryer for five minutes, clean the lint filter and vent, and restart. A code that returns straight away usually means a part, often a thermistor, thermal fuse or door switch.
