Samsung stove and range error codes

Start here if you only know what the display says. Samsung ranges, stoves and wall ovens use three families of codes. Pick yours, then open the code for the fix, the part and the cost.

C-codes (C-21, C-24, C-F2 and others)

Temperature and cooling-fan monitoring on newer smart ranges. 5 codes covered.

CodeMeaningFirst thing to try
C-d0Stuck key detectedPress the key that shows as stuck, and all others once.
cE-56Internal control board faultCut power for 3 minutes.
C-21Oven sensor malfunction (Samsung UK lists C-20, C-21 and C-22 as sensor faults)Cut power at the breaker for at least 30 seconds (Samsung's stated minimum for most codes) and retest once. If C-21 returns on the next heat-up, the fault is real.
C-24Reported heat near the ventilation area (not on Samsung UK's code page)Cut power at the breaker for at least 30 seconds, then run a bake cycle and listen: the convection/cooling fan should spin as the oven heats.
C-F2Cooling-fan / control communication fault: the display board is not receiving the expected feedback from the cooling fan circuitBreaker reset for at least 30 seconds, then heat the oven and confirm whether the cooling fan physically spins.

E-codes (E-08, E-0A, E-27 and others)

Oven function faults: sensors, relays, the door lock and the control board. 7 codes covered.

CodeMeaningFirst thing to try
E-08Oven not heating: bake/broil element or temperature sensor fault (on some models: door lock fault)Cut power for 3 minutes and restore.
E-0AOven overheatingCut power at the breaker immediately.
E-0E / FLDoor lock errorCut power for 3 minutes; the lock may cycle on restart.
E-27Oven temperature sensor open circuit (resistance too high)Cut power at the breaker for 3 minutes, then restore it.
E-28Oven temperature sensor short circuit (resistance too low)Cut power at the breaker for 3 minutes, then restore it.
E-54Communication fault between oven and cooktop control boardsCut power for 3 minutes.
E-55Display / touch panel communication errorCut power for 3 minutes.

Short letter codes (SE, tE, LE and others)

Control-panel and key faults, including stuck keys. 6 codes covered.

CodeMeaningFirst thing to try
SEDefective or stuck key on the control panel (short in the touchpad membrane)Cut power at the breaker for 3 minutes and restore.
LELow voltage fault (board supply under about 9 V DC)Cut power for 3 minutes.
tETouch communication errorCut power for 3 minutes and let the panel dry if it was cleaned.
to / tsCooktop temperature sensor errorCut power for 3 minutes.
otCooktop overheatingCut power and let it cool.
bo / bsInverter (induction) control board sensor faultCut power for 3 minutes.

Beyond the fix

Did you knowSamsung says the door of its ranges locks as a safety measure while the oven is hot, and on some models also when the range is powered off.

Questions

Is a Samsung stove the same as a range?

Yes. In the US “stove” and “range” both mean a freestanding cooktop with an oven underneath. A wall oven is the oven on its own. The same error codes apply to Samsung ranges and wall ovens.

How do I tell which Samsung code family I have?

Look at the display. A letter C then a number or letter (C-21, C-F2) is the temperature and fan family. An E then two characters (E-08, E-27) is an oven function fault. Two-letter codes like SE or LE point at the control panel.

What clears most Samsung stove error codes?

Restart the range, then switch it off at the breaker for at least 30 seconds, which is what Samsung says for most codes. A code that returns straight away usually means a sensor, the door lock or a stuck key. Each code’s page lists the cheapest checks first and says where to stop.

Do these codes apply to a Samsung induction cooktop?

A few point at the cooktop or induction board and are marked on their own pages. Cooktop-only appliances can use different codes, so check your model number if a code does not match.
